Saint Roch colored resin statue 20 cm. Crafted from resin and hand-finished, each piece of the Saint Roch statue is unique thanks to the skill of the artisans from Lucca who meticulously paint every detail. The saint is depicted in a green robe, lifting his cloak to reveal the wound on his thigh, a symbol of his suffering and miracle. By his side, appears the faithful dog, which tradition holds sustained him by bringing bread during his illness. The cloak and hat are adorned with golden shells, reminiscent of his pilgrimage to Santiago. Saint Roch, who lived in the 14th century in France, is known as a protector against epidemics. He renounced his family's wealth to care for the sick and the poor. While on a pilgrimage in Italy, he fell ill with the plague and secluded himself in a forest, where, as tradition tells, a dog brought him bread until his recovery. Following his death, devotion to him spread widely, especially during periods of epidemics. This statue is crafted by a Lucca-based company with a long tradition in creating sacred statues, active since 1900. For over a century, this artisanal reality has been dedicated to producing religious statues, keeping alive the ancient Tuscan figurine tradition by offering quality and uniqueness in their products.
