Modern Russian icon Our Lady of Kazan 31x27 cm. This icon of the Kazan Mother of God is, iconographically, a variant of the Odighitria type. It comes from central Russia, it is hand painted using the egg tempera technique. The first image was found in the city of Kazan on 8 July 1579 after the Madonna appeared to a ten-year-old girl to show her the place where the Christians had hidden the icon before the conquest of the city by the Tatars. The orthodox icon holidays were July 8 and October 22, when a procession of icons paraded around the walls of Moscow, blessing the entire city with the invisible protection that icons provide. Baby Jesus in an upright position blesses in an Orthodox rite. The icon is a faithful copy of the original and is delivered in an elegant blue box with satin interior.
