This icon is a faithful copy of one of the most famous archetypes of the ''Burning Bush'' dating back to the 17th century. It is a modern reproduction made following the principles of the Byzantine-Russian school of icons, hand painted on a solid linden wood panel plated with gold leaf and finished using the craquelé technique, which gives the icon a realistic antique effect.
This icon owes its name to the well-known miracle witnessed by Moses in the book of Exodus: the Angel of the Lord appeared to Moses from the middle of a bush that was burning with a high flame, but without being consumed, and communicated to him the task of saving the Jews from slavery in Egypt. The Fathers of the Church had already glimpsed the analogy between the burning shrub that was not consumed and the virginity of the Mother of God, so the bush became one of the symbols of the Virgin Mary.In the icon the Mother of God with the Child is located within the eight-armed star which symbolizes perfection and the beginning of an eternal future.
