Romanian Triptych Madonna of the Sign Hand Painted Wood 40x60cm. This triptych is a sacred artwork featuring the central icon of Our Lady of the Sign, a traditional depiction where the Virgin Mary, with open hands in a gesture of blessing, holds in the center of her chest a circular image of the Lord, symbolizing the divine incarnation as described by the prophet Isaiah: The Virgin will conceive and give birth to a son who will be called Emmanuel. On the sides of the Madonna, the figures of the archangels Michael and Gabriel are portrayed as two angels, adding an additional layer of meaning and beauty to the central panel. The two side panels complete the triptych with images of the Mother of God, dressed in green with a purple mantle, and of Saint Nicholas, a bishop portrayed in solemn attire while blessing the people with one hand and holding the book of Sacred Scriptures with the other.
