Hand-painted on a wooden panel according to the Byzantine iconographic tradition. The image depicts the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus, their faces close in a gesture of profound tenderness typical of the Eastern iconographic style. Devotion to Our Lady of Good Counsel received a strong impulse during the pontificate of Leo XIII, who in 1884 officially approved the liturgical feast and the white Scapular of Mater Good Counsel, enriching it with indulgences. From that time the devotion spread widely thanks to the work of the Augustinians and to the many pilgrims who, over the centuries, visited the Shrine of Genazzano and carried the image to many parts of the world.
The icon is characterized by delicate yet intense colors, capable of conveying a sense of prayerful recollection and spirituality. The halos of Mary and the Child bear symbols that refer to their devotional significance. A work rich in history and symbolism, ideal for personal prayer, for spaces dedicated to faith, or as a devotional object of high spiritual value. Real size of the icon: 31x23x2 cm. The Romanian icon is delivered in a red presentation box to protect it during transport and is accompanied by a certificate of guarantee signed by the iconographer.
