Romanian hand-painted Icon of the Annunciation, 24x18 cm.
Hand-painted on a 24x18 cm wooden panel in Romania according to the Eastern iconographic tradition. Created by Romanian iconographers specialized in sacred icons, the composition depicts the meeting between the Archangel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary. The angel is represented in motion with outstretched wings in tones of blue and pink, wearing a light-blue tunic and a pinkish mantle, holding the messenger's staff and extending his hand toward Mary. The Virgin is seated on a throne decorated with architectural elements, wrapped in a deep red mantle over a blue robe, her right hand raised in response to the divine announcement. A gold background frames the figures with circular halos, architectural decorations in red and ochre tones, and identifying inscriptions. At the top appears the inscription 'Buna Vestire', the Romanian expression for the Annunciation. The scene evokes the Gospel account in which Gabriel greets Mary as 'full of grace' and announces the conception of Jesus by the Holy Spirit, the central moment of the mystery of the Incarnation. The religious icon is delivered in a red velvet presentation box with a white satin lining to ensure protection during transport and storage. Every sacred icon includes a certificate of guarantee.
