Painted Romanian icon of the Crucifixion, 30x25 cm. This religious icon depicts the Crucifixion of Christ, hand-painted in tempera by Romanian iconographers trained in the tradition of the Byzantine school. It features a gold leaf background and haloes, measuring 30 x 25 cm. At the center, Christ is depicted crucified with his head bowed and his body stretched out. On either side are the Virgin Mary and Saint John, in a posture of participation and contemplation, wearing contrasting robes with defined folds. The background is embellished with Greek inscriptions identifying the figures according to Eastern iconography. The workmanship follows traditional canons, with tempera application and the image constructed through chromatic fields and highlights. The application of gold leaf contributes to the definition of the symbolic space and the liturgical interpretation of the scene. Each Orthodox icon comes with a certificate of guarantee. The icon is made on 2.5 cm thick board with an antique finish, actual dimensions 31x23x2.5 cm, and is delivered in a red velvet box with a satin-lined interior for protection during transport and storage.
