Painted Romanian Icon 'Mother of Good Counsel', green background with frame, 22x18 cm. This Orthodox icon is hand-painted on a wooden panel according to the Byzantine iconographic tradition and depicts the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus. The two figures are shown with their faces close together, expressing intimacy, protection and tenderness, a characteristic of Eastern sacred art. The green background enhances the presence of Mother and Child, while the painted frame with an antique effect and gold inlays adds light and dignity to the composition. Devotion to the Mother of Good Counsel grew notably under the pontificate of Pope Leo XIII, who in 1884 officially recognized her liturgical feast and the white scapular of Mater Boni Consilii, granting indulgences. The icon is connected to the Sanctuary of Genazzano and spread worldwide thanks to the work of the Augustinians and the many pilgrims who have carried its image as a sign of faith and devotion. The religious icon is delivered in an elegant red presentation box to ensure protection during transport and storage. A certificate of authenticity signed by the iconographer is affixed to the back and accompanied by a short leaflet describing its origin and spiritual meaning. Actual measurements: 24x18x2 cm.
