It owes its name to the Don region, in which lived the Cossack people who donated it to the Prince of Moscow Dimitri del Don.This Romanian icon is completely handmade by a Romanian artist who follows the traditional Byzantine iconic method. The icon consists of a wooden base on which the canvas is spread and numerous layers of plaster, where the drawing is engraved and hand-painted in bright colors. The color gold is very present in this icon as a symbolic color of pure light.This Donskaya icon measures 30x25 cm and is delivered in an elegant blue velvet box and satin interior. It includes a certificate of guarantee and pamphlet containing the history of the icon.
