Hand‑painted Romanian Nativity Icon, 31x23 cm. Executed entirely by hand on a wooden panel according to the Eastern iconographic tradition by Romanian iconographers specialized in sacred paintings. The religious icon unites the Holy Family, angels and the symbolic elements of the Gospel account of Christ’s birth. At the center the Mother of God reclines on a red bedding, wrapped in a brown mantle over a dark blue robe, her head encircled by a gilded halo. Beside her the Baby Jesus lies swaddled and placed in a rectangular stone manger, attended by the ox and the ass. The form of the manger symbolically recalls Christ’s tomb, while the swaddling anticipates the mystery of his death and Resurrection. In the lower register Saint Joseph is shown seated on a rock, clothed in an orange‑red tunic with a gilded halo. Above, angels with outstretched wings flank the scene as a ray of light descends toward the place of birth. The landscape consists of ochre and brown rocky reliefs set against the dark background of the cave, with gold details in the halos and sacred figures. The upper area bears the inscription Nasterea Domnului, the Romanian designation for the Nativity of the Lord. The composition follows the Romanian tradition of placing the Mother of God at the center, emphasizing the mystery of the Incarnation and Mary’s perpetual virginity. The icon is delivered in a red velvet presentation box with a white satin interior for protection during transport and storage. Every icon is includes a certificate of guarantee.
