This icon portrays the Mother of God Vladimir with the Child Jesus, executed in tempera by Romanian iconographers following the Byzantine tradition and adorned with gold leaf. This religious icon belongs to the Madonna of Tenderness iconographic type, which originated in Constantinople and was later venerated in the city of Vladimir, becoming a devotional image invoked for the protection of the community.
