This lovely wooden Pantanassa icon is created using a classical Russian technique that uses transverse beams to prevent the curvature of the wood over time. The orthodox icon is hand-painted using the mixed technique of painting and decoupage and the halos are painted with various shades of gold, similar to pure gold.
