Ancient Russian icon of Our Lady of Arabia late 18th century 36x30 cm. The Russian orthodox icon comes from the Church of the Assumption on Apuchtinka in Moscow. It depicts the Madonna in half-length portrait, slightly supporting the child on her forearms. In its red-brown robe we find the writing which inspired the title of the icon which asks the Madonna to free men from all evils and remove the suffering they deserve. The surcoat is dark red, symbol of the celestial world.
