The technique used is the ''a fresco'' with gold leaf intervention, which allows the colors to blend perfectly with the lime pigment during drying, thus ensuring a long-lasting and harmonious integration. The pigments used are oxide-based, which ensures that the intensity of the color remains unchanged over time.
The work:The gestures of the figures are measured and deliberate, while the colors are vivid and bright. Mary rests an arm on her belly to indicate her future pregnancy. The three-dimensionality of the figures is reinforced by the play of chiaroscuro and a decisive design, with marked folds in the cloaks that escape any conventional scheme.
