Technique
The Linea Aurea by Bottega Tifernate is distinguished by high-quality artistic works produced using the patented pictography technique devised by maestro Stefano Lazzari. This process yields reproductions that preserve the aesthetic qualities of an original painting. Years of dedicated research in painting and restoration have enabled the Città di Castello workshop to faithfully restore the methods and recipes used by Renaissance masters on fresco, panel and canvas. For restorations and fresco reproductions, the same type of lime used by Giotto — a pure lime free of salts and alkalis that could damage the work over time — is employed. The technique used for frescoes is 'a fresco' with gold leaf intervention, allowing colors to fuse with the lime pigment during drying for a durable, harmonious result. Oxide-based pigments are used to ensure long-lasting color intensity.
The work
The composition gathers six episodes inspired by Giotto's Franciscan cycle in the Upper Basilica of Assisi: 'Preaching to the Birds', 'Almsgiving of the Cloak', Saint Francis's Prayer before the Crucifix of San Damiano, 'Renunciation of Possessions', 'Saint Francis Receives the Stigmata' and the 'Expulsion of the Devils from Arezzo', offering an iconographic path through the most significant moments of the saint's life. The solid wood structure with an oil finish enhances each painted panel, turning the cross into both a decorative and devotional object. The work includes a certificate of provenance and is ready for wall display.
