Kneeling Magi by Dellarte Ceramics Hand-Painted 20 cm. This nativity statue of the Magi, depicted kneeling while offering incense, is crafted from exquisite Faenza ceramic and entirely hand-painted. It is part of a 10-piece nativity set, where each character, while sharing the same artisanal style, features unique chromatic variations. The purple cloak, adorned with golden details, stands out for the meticulous color application. The crafting process follows a complex artisanal procedure, starting from the pouring of liquid clay, the so-called slip, into plaster molds to create the raw shapes. After drying and an initial firing at 1000°C, coloring with non-toxic glazes takes place. The artwork is then immersed in crystalline, a translucent glassy coating that enhances the decorations, followed by a second firing at 920°C. Precious details, like the 10% pure gold coin finishes, are hand-applied and fixed with a third and final firing at 720°C. This creation is signed by Dellarte Ceramics, a family-run business active for over 20 years. Founded by Paola Zaghi, a professor of Art History and Painting Design, the company was created from the desire to combine knowledge of the artistic heritage with the passion for creating unique objects that reflect her personality and artistic sensitivity.
