Russian Icon Only Begotten Son of God 32x27 cm hand painted.Orthodox icon from Russia made in the twentieth century according to the rigid and solemn tradition of Eastern iconographic art.In the center of the icon, the Almighty Lord Zevaot is depicted, with the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove in his bosom. Below is the portrait of the Savior, supported by two angels, who carries the tetramorph (symbol of the Evangelists) in his right hand, and a written scroll in his left.To the sides are two Angels holding the sun and the moon, and two other angels are painted in the background.In the center is the image 'Don't cry for me, Mother', with the Dead Christ and the Sorrowful Virgin.Below, on the left, an angel beats Satan, defeated and pierced by a cross.Christ sits on the cross in the form of a warrior in armor, from which unclean people flee by trying to hide in a cave.In the lower right, beasts devouring sinners and death with a scythe on an apocalyptic beast can be seen.The elaborate composition is based on the text of a hymn performed in the liturgy of John Chrysostom.20th century orthodox icon made on wood and levkas and hand painted on gold leaf with egg tempera by the master painters of the Golden Ring of Moscow.
