It depicts the Virgin holding the Child Jesus with her left hand and pointing to him with her right hand, thus highlighting the fact that not only is it of his son but that he represents the right and only way forward.The Child, on the other hand, holds a parchment firmly in his left hand, a symbol of the word of God and with his right hand he performs a gesture of blessing towards the faithful.The peculiarity of the Virgin Smolensk lies in the fact that the heads of her subjects are separated from each other, emphasizing the divine nature of Jesus.In the upper part of the icon, Greek initials can be distinguished between the golden background, which refer to Christ, ''He who is'', and to the Madonna, ''Mother of God''.The Our Lady of Smolensk icon can be hung with a hook located on the back and is accompanied by a minimal style wooden box.On the back of the orthodox icon, there is a guarantee certificate and a brief description of the history of the original Smolensk.
