Madonna on a throne: Basilissa (the Queen)

Icon of the Madonna on her throne, the Basilissa also called "the queen of angels and saints". This image of the Holy Virgin with precious clothes, sitting on a throne and holding baby Jesus in her arms became popular during the iconoclastic period but it was already used in the Roman catacomb art. This icon is entirely hand-made by the Yaroslav atelier, Russia, following the rules of the Orthdox iconic tradition. It comes in an elegant blue velvet box with certificate of authenticity.
