Hand painted religious icon in old Romanian style depicting the Madonna of the Three Hands, an icon traditionally linked to the figure of San Giovanni Damasceno. It is about how St. John was mutilated by the hand for his strenuous defense of the orthodoxy of some icons. Praying to this icon of the Madonna and Child, the miracle happened and his hand grew again. As a thank you, San Giovanni had a silver hand made and placed near the icon, an image which then translated into this honored icon. The icon is made on a canvas spread on a wooden base and covered with multiple layers of plaster, and is decorated with numerous gold details.
