Religious Icon painted in Romania on fir wood, following the Byzantine techniques of the 16th century. The Last Supper of Christ with the disciples is, from a dramatic and symbolic point of view, one of the culminating moments of the Gospel. On the one hand, Jesus announces the imminent betrayal of Judas, foreshadowing his own death; on the other, by breaking the bread for the last time and sharing the wine with the Apostles, he institutes the Eucharist, the central sacrament of the Church.
