'Menological' with the saints of the month depicted day by day.In the menologue icon for the whole year, the disposition of the months follows the order of the Orthodox religious calendar which begins, according to tradition, with the month of September and ends in August. Furthermore, in Russian churches it was customary to display a menological icon which constituted the illustration of the liturgical calendar.This was a way to visually present to the faithful the faces and works of the saints that the Church urged them to venerate.
