Ancient Russian icon Our Lady of Tikhvin basma 19th century 30x25 cm. The image of Our Lady of Tikhvin is one of the oldest and most revered miraculous images in Russia. According to legend, there were several apparitions of her, the last of which was on the left bank of the Tikhvinca River, where the church of the Dormition of the Madonna was built and later the Tikhvinski monastery, which escaped the Swedish siege in the years 1613-1615.
