The Menologue was a collection of saints' lives, drawn up day by day according to the order of the ecclesiastical calendar. The corresponding icons were also created as an aid for the faithful, in which the celebrated saint was painted on each day and which could be divided month by month or depict an entire annual cycle. Menologists followed the Orthodox religious calendar which begins according to ancient tradition in September and ends in August.
