Saint Joseph loaded his donkey with saddlebags and put Maria and the Child on his back. With difficulty they are preparing to go a long way towards Egypt. Mary holds Jesus close to her while Joseph illuminates the street. Normally, terracotta statues of the traditional nativity scene, for example the Neapolitan one, are built from a skeleton covered with fabrics to which the head, hands and feet are applied.Instead, the statues of Tripi have terracotta bodies "dressed" in cloth.In her works, the artist tells a story: each statue is depicted at a specific moment in their life, telling us a before and after of that moment.Details such as tense muscles, tendons, expression lines and hands (open and with well-defined fingers) emerge clearly.Angela Tripi succeeds in giving each statue an amazing realism, never seen before and unrepeatable: her statues will never be equal to each other, making every piece unique.
