Saint Luke icon, oval.
Saint Luke, like the other Evangelists, is represented inside his writing room. Luke, together with Mark and Matthew is writing inspired by an angel.
Luke, travel companion of Paul, is the writer of the third Gospel and of the Acts of the Apostles.
The symbol that the fathers of the church have given to Saint Luke is the ox, because his Gospel begins with the vision of Zechariah in the temple where animals such as oxen and sheep used to be sacrificed to the Lord.
This icon was painted in Romania, it's entirely hand made following the traditional techniques of the Byzantine art.
It has an oval shape with particular decorations on the sides.
Delivered in an elegant blue box with insides in satin.
