This statue represents the first apparition of the Virgin on a cloud in the sky of the city of Medjugorje.The Virgin is depicted with her left hand stretched forward with the palm facing upwards, as a sign of welcome, and the right touches her chest.She wears a white veil and a blue robe, with some gold trim.The statue of Our Lady of Medjugorje is placed on a pedestal where there are three plates, the first shows the date of the first apparition of Our Lady on the Podbrdo hill in the city of Medjugorje, June 24, 1981.The second plate bears the word Kraljika Mira, which means Queen of Peace.Our Lady of Medjugorje is called Lady of Peace because the message she entrusts to the faithful is a message of Peace, and Peace can be reached through a path consisting of five steps, called the five stones.These are humble prayer, fasting on Wednesdays and Fridays, daily reading of the Bible, confession once a month, the Eucharist every day.Finally, the word Medjugorje is engraved on the last plate.The Lady of Medjugorje statue is made of a mixture of marble dust and hand painted by craftsmen of a Bosnian company in Medjugorje.The Virgin statue is treated with a special protective lacquer that makes it suitable for outdoor use as well.
