This statue of Saint Joseph and Infant Jesus comes from a company based in Val Gardena which, since 1892, produces items and statues in wood, that become true gracious and precious works of art.
The statue up to 40cm is made of maple wood, from 60cm up is made of lime wood.

There's something so doting and gentle about the figure of Joseph cradling Christ in his arms; it reminds me of the prayer: Oh, St Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press him in my name and kiss His fine head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. This has been a bad few years for all of us, but this is a comforting reminder that we are cared for. God was humble enough to come to us as a Man, and He prepared Saint Joseph and His Blessed Mother to be His protectors on earth. St. Joseph was the man who best knew and protected Jesus from infancy - even before birth. He is a good man for us to trust and ask for prayer. This wee statue really does St.Joseph the protector justice.
