Russian icon painted Our Lady of Suaja 14x10 cm. In the city of Suaja, Smolenk region, between 1654 and 1655 a great epidemic was taking place which infested all of Russia. The most faithful of the parish of the Resurrection wanted an icon of the Mother of God of Smolensk to be painted. After the blessing, a procession was organized through the public streets and the Mother of God put an end to the plague.As a peculiarity, it can be noted that the Virgin holds a small foot of her Son, who raises the scroll of Scripture with his right hand. The main festival takes place on July 28th, but it is also celebrated on July 11th to remember the liberation from the plague. The orthodox icon is hand-painted and is made on a solid lime wood board, covered in gold leaf. It measures 14x10 cm and comes from Russia.
