Russian icon Mother of Gos assuage my sorrows, XIX century panel.
According to the cultural tradition, this Russian icon was brought to Moscow by the Cossacks in 1640. Many miracles were attributed to the power of the icon, especially during the plague of 1771.
Many copies were made, and one of them is now preserved in the Church of the Ascension, in Saint Petersburg.
