Virgin Mary Pochaevskaya ancient Russian icon 20x16 inces. Original Russian icon belonging to Tsar era. Hand painted by the master iconographers of the Golden Ring of Moscow. Slightly restored in the RTS laboratories in Moscow. The history of this icon begins in 1559 in a small village called Pochaev, which is located in present-day Ukraine. The Patriarch of Constantinople gave it to Anna Goyskaya and has since been kept in the monastery. Later Andrey Firley, his successor, took her home and his wife fell ill and became mad. The parish priest Iov Pochevinskiy suggested to bring the icon back to the monastery so that Andrey's wife would recover. And so it was. It comes with a black case and a certificate of authenticity.
