Saint Francis Gives His Mantle tile retouch 9x12 cm Giotto Bottega Tifernate. This 9x12 cm reproduction belongs to the Linea Aurea by Bottega Tifernate and depicts the scene 'The Almsgiving of the Mantle' painted by Giotto. Each item in the Linea Aurea is an exclusive work of art, hand-made and finished by qualified painters with academic training.

The technique

The Linea Aurea by Bottega Tifernate is distinguished by high-quality artistic works produced using the patented pictography technique devised by maestro Stefano Lazzari. This method creates reproductions that retain the aesthetic qualities of an original painting. Years of dedicated research in painting and restoration have enabled the Città di Castello workshop to faithfully reproduce the methods and recipes used by Renaissance masters on fresco, panel and canvas. For the frescoes the same pure lime used by Giotto is employed, free from salts and alkalis that could damage the work over time. The technique is fresco pictography with gold leaf intervention, allowing the colors to fuse with the lime pigment during drying and ensuring a long-lasting, harmonious integration. The pigments are oxide-based, which preserves the intensity of the color over time.

The work

The composition shows the young Saint Francis giving his cloak to a needy man, an episode that foreshadows his path of charity and renunciation of material goods. The hilly landscape, the horse in the background and the buildings framing the scene contribute to a balanced composition in which the saint's gesture becomes the focal point. The reproduction is delivered with a certificate of origin and features a hook on the back for hanging.
