Mother of God of Korsun icon.
This icon takes its name from the Russian city of Korsun, where, according to the legend, it was painted by Luke the Evangelist.
The typical traits of this icon are the representation of the Mother up to the shoulders, the position of the hand in a suppliant attitude and the position of the head leaning towards the son.
The Mother of God is dressed like a Bride of God, an empress bound to rule the world, but with a sad look, as she is aware of the destiny of her son.
This icon is hand painted in Romania following ancient iconography traditions, using natural colours and gold leaf.
