Ancient icon dating XVIII century from the russian school, made with the tempera egg technique.
The icon name derives from the fifth line of the 'Akathistos' hymn, Mary loads herself with the sorrows of humanity, and, during the long years after the Jesus's passion, she brings her pain to dormition where she receives her eternal consolation.
Mary is lost in thoughts with a hand on her temple, Jesus floats in front of her as if in an incorporeal dimension and carries a scroll with the words 'the court righteous, kindness and generosity''.
Each icon comes with a photograph and with a survey reported by experts from the Ministry of Russian culture, and export documents.
